HHD security cameraDCVI (High Definition Composite Video interface) is an independent and proprietary technology where it is capable of transmitting High Definition Video over standard coaxial cable. Also, HD-CVI is capable of transmitting up to 2 Megapixel video over existing coax cable infrastructures up to 1600 feet without any third party repeaters Hardware; this provides a much better solution than HD-SDI which is limited to 300 feet transmission.

HDCVI is a new camera technology that allows 720P or 1080P video signals to be transmitted over solid copper conductor coaxial RG59U cable or better. The HDCVI cameras and DVR recorders are also inexpensive when compared to IP cameras. For customers with existing CCTV systems, chances are they are using coaxial cable already and upgrading to a HDCVI system for high definition video makes more sense as it saves tremendous costs of re-running wiring and equipment cost is also lower. For customer looking for new HD camera systems, HDCVI is a great lower cost alternative to IP network cameras, and is also simpler to install as it is plug & play and requires no network configuration for each camera as in the case of IP, which is a common hurdle for many users who are not familiar with networking.HDCVI CCTV System Surveillance camera

HD-CVI uses coax cable to transmit cameras just like HD-SDI. The major key differences is that HD-CVI allows you to go further with coax. You can transmit HD-CVI up to 1500 feet using coax. This bodes well for consumers that have longer wire runs in place. HD-CVI also allows you to enter the camera OSD ( on screen display menu ) from the DVR itself. This means that you can adjust the camera settings directly from the recorder without having to manually make the changes at the camera. This helps tremendously because you do not need to get up on a ladder to adjust cameras by hand. HD-CVI also allows you to use CAT5 ( networking ) wiring with baluns to transmit video. This is something you cannot do with HD-SDI. This adds more versatility to the installation. The one downside to HD-CVI is that currently the highest resolution available is 1080p (2 Megapixel ). This really does not pose a problem to most consumers as 2 Megapixel is more than enough resolution for their needs.

HDCVI can be used with regular RG59 (Siamese Cable). This type of cable is found typically on installations where regular analog cameras are setup in place. This cable is ideal for this application because you will not need to modify anything in your cabling when adding HDCVI cameras and and HDCVI DVR.

HDCVI cameras have an extra pair of cables. These cables are color coded with a purple and white color. When connected together the video through HDCVI will stop outputting and then the camera is able to reproduce video over an analog DVR or handheld monitor. This is by design and is just intended to be used solely to adjust the camera while it is mounted and connected to a hand-held monitor.
